Happy Valentine's Day!

What a happy day so far! The boys nixed pancakes, so we had heart toast and read their new books. Does anyone need a fantastically fun book for boys in the 6-8 range? The Astonishing Secret of Awesome Man by Michael Chabon is terrific. And I gave Oliver Stuck, a very amusing book by Oliver Jeffers. I decided against the gnocchi for tonight because it sounds like a pain-in-the-arse type of recipe, and I know I won't have time today, not least since I didn't drain the ricotta starting last night. I'm going to try and replicate the mascarpone-stuffed dates we loved at Komi recently, think I'll grill steaks, do something with the parsnips/leeks/greens I have and cap things off with the Nutella pudding. A meal simultaneously simple but indulgent.

Oliver is literally hanging on my leg- off to a playdate...
