Canning with a dear friend

What a wonderful way to spend a morning. One of my dearest friends came over to chat, drink tea, and keep me company while I made the orange marmalade. It's been entirely too long since we saw each other and were both tired as get-out, but had a wonderfully fun, thoughtful two hours together and felt so rejuvenated by it all. And this marmalade is so stinking pretty! It's the 4 blood oranges and 1 Cara Cara, the water in which they soaked overnight, 5 cups of sugar, and 1/4 c diced crystallized ginger. The syrup would be a great addition to a cocktail; it's Campari-like in its grapefruit-orange bitterness, the ginger adds a bit of complexity and the liquid just has such a beautiful hue.
