I have been a MACHINE today, peeps. Two chocolate cakes, done. 2 ½ pints of sour cherry-rhubarb chutney, done.  Isn’t this pretty? It will definitely be a welcome replacement for the rhubarb chutney I loved that was discontinued. Canning is really simple if you have the right equipment, so if you’re interested in trying it out, don’t be scared. Borrow a water-bath processing pot from someone if you don’t know how you’re going to feel about this hobby. If you’re pretty sure you groove on it and have been cobbling your way through jam-making sessions without actual canning supplies (as I was), purchase a simple set.

I love my pretty collection of jars, the tongs you use to pull the processed jars out of their steaming bath, the pop the lid makes when the vacuum inside the jar pulls it down, even making my little labels for whatever I made; do you know the Ball brand labels look just as I remember from my childhood?
