This morning’s breakfast: apricot scones and apricot jam. Yum! The jam is so darn pretty!
Loud refrains heard since 5:20a from youngest child’s room:
Where ARE you, mommy?
Have a big poopie, mommy!
Come see me, mommy!
MOM-my, Mom-MY!
Approximately 250 times, poopie claim was a lie, result=tired, peeved to the max mommy who is now fuming, albeit very tiredly, in bed.
If this is not how your morning commenced, please give some thanks.
Apricots and sugar heating up.
The apricots are softening.
Gorgeous jam.
So, I bought some gorgeous, fresh apricots recently and have just been enjoying them on my dining table as they’re just so pretty. However, why let good fruit go to waste, so I asked Jack what we should do with them. He thought of muffins, I found a scone recipe, he enthusiastically agreed to go the scone route, and then I said what about apricot scones and apricot jam? Sold. This recipe contains two ingredients -apricots and a little sugar- and allowed me to get out my candy thermometer which I’ve used twice now, never on candy.
C, I found this in the Good to the Grain book you gave me. Another win. Delish! Scones will follow in the morning.
